John Davin's Business Startup and Organization Seminar
Follow along online as John Davin takes you through his complete business startup checklist. Then click on the links to learn more about the services he is discussing. John will reveal hundreds of tips and tools to save you time and money starting, operating or maintaining any business. As a bonus, you'll also want to print the business startup checklist and fill in the information about your business as you go. Items such as your federal or state id, your stated goals, your credit card or merchant account information, passwords, domain name registration information and so much more. You'll never lose important facts and assets about your business again!

Session 2::.10:00 a.m.
Carroll Tek: New Training Program from The Carroll Center for the
Blind.
During this session, Carroll Center for the Blind Vice President, Computer Training Services and Carroll Tech Project Director, Brian Charlson will demonstrate this innovative new training option. He will outline how the classes were constructed and what tools were used. Preliminary statistics on class participation, completion and measurable outcomes will be shared. Information on how other individuals and organizations can participate in the success of this project, both as a student and as an instructor will be presented. The future of distance learning of adaptive technology will also be discussed.
Session 3: 1100 a.m.
The Hadley School for the Blind: Maintaining Its Rich Tradition and Expanding its Outreach in the 21st Century.
Dawn Turco, Senior Vice President, will take you on a tour of The Hadley School that was founded in 1920 by William A. Hadley. She will describe its four programs, eligibility and how it is possible for totally blind and low vision students of all ages to pursue fully accredited courses absolutely without cost.
Session 4: 12:00 Noon
OPAL: Online Programming for All Libraries
Tom Peters, founder of TAP Information services, will provide an introduction to OPAL (Online Programming for All Libraries), a collaborative effort among libraries to offer a rich array of online public programming. The types of programs include online book discussions, online interviews, online training and orientation, virtual tours of interesting collections at the participating libraries, and symposia. This introduction will cover how OPAL is organized, promoted, produced, and archived.
Session 5: 1:00 p.m.
THOMAS: A Workshop on Accessing and Searching Congressional Information
Kenneth Drexler, Digital Reference Specialist, Library of Congress, will answer such questions as: What have your Congressmen and women been doing? What are their positions on the issues? How can you contact them? During this workshop you will learn how to search the THOMAS Web site for Congressional information from 1973 to the present.
The symposium is free. All you need to participate is a computer, a sound card, speakers and a microphone if you want to verbally interact with the speakers and audience. Text chat is available for those without a microphone.
